Deliberations continues

Vote 19 – Ministry of Infrastructure

The Minister of Infrastructure clarified the budget and deliberations proceeded.

The People’s Representative No.4 raised his concern over what routes to be used by the public in times of emergency such as tsunamis. There is also concern that there are no new roads at Tongatapu 4 according to this map. The Minister responded that there are other pages on the map that are yet to be printed which includes the map that shows roads at Tongatapu 4. The Member went to speak about the picketing along the waterfront and asked Government whether the picketing can be completed prior to the Coronation. Government responded that they will work together on it with the Member.

The People’s Representative No.9 asked if do not litter and less noise signs can be put up in public places and also include what the fines/penalty for being in breach is, and to impose spot fines, so that the country’s appealing nature is sustained. The Minister of Infrastructure that in the Ministry of Tourism’s plan there is a plan to have 30 boards and the wording so to encourage the country be kept clean.

The Nobles’ Representative for Éua was concerned that the funds may not be obtained for his vote.
