Lord Fakafanua led a delegation from the Parliament of Tonga to the Global Parliamentary Forum that was held in Marrakech, Morocco on 9 October 2023. The delegation included Lord Tu’iha’angana (Deputy Speaker of Parliament) and Hon. Dr ‘Aisake Eke (Chairman of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts).

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Lord Fakafanua represented Tonga at the Thirtieth Annual International Law and Religion Symposium that was hosted by the Brigham Young University School of Law, at BYU University Provo, Utah from 1 to 3 October.

The Legislative Assembly of Tonga was represented by Speaker, Lord Fakafanua at a meeting of parliamentarians from member countries of the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU). The meeting took place in New York on 21 September at the SDG Summit that opened the High-Level Week of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations.

LORD FAKAFANUA represented Tonga as co-host, alongside the Governments of Ghana, Uganda and Nigeria, of the Accelerator Actions and Innovative Financing to deliver on the SDGs by the year 2030, taking place in New York on 19 September. The event was held in collaboration with the Copenhagen Consensus Center, Hilton Foundation, IRC and the Ghana UN Country Team.
