THE Legislative Assembly of Tonga’s Parliamentary Standing Committee continues to serve the people despite being closed.

IT is important for the people to obey all precautionary measures and advice from the health authorities to prevent any chance of the COVID 19 coronavirus spreading in Tonga.

Nuku’alofa, Tonga (16 March 2020) – The Fale Alea To’utupu 2020 (2020 Tonga Youth Parliament) was officially opened yesterday by Her Royal Highness, Princess Angelika Lātūfuipeka Halaevalu Mata’aho Napua ‘Okalani Tukuʻaho at the Chamber of the Fale Alea o Tonga (Legislative Assembly of Tonga), who stressed the importance of using the youth parliament concept, as an opportunity to represent the voices and views of youths at the national level.

Nuku’alofa, Tonga (11 March 2020) - Nuku’alofa is riveting with excitement and anticipation today as 28 participants aged between 14 – 34 arrive for the Fale Alea To’utupu (Tonga Youth Parliament), which aims at engaging and educating Tongan youths about their parliamentary system and developing their leadership skills.

THE Legislative Assembly has adjourned its next sitting until May 2020.

Parliament was scheduled to sit yesterday, February 17, 2020.
