The devastation of the volcanic eruption, the tsunami, and the Covid outbreak that followed has proved to be a challenge not only to the government but Members of Parliament also especially Members of Parliament from the most affected areas.
The Office of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga has been working tirelessly under the guidance of the acting Speaker Lord Tu’i Ha’angana and Chief Clerk Gloria Pole’o to support MPs.
Working closely with Treasury, the OLA has been able to assist MPs access their Constituency Funds to help people in their Constituencies especially those who were affected.
OLA staff have been working on a rotation basis during the lockdown to make sure MPs get all the support they need.
