The 2024 parliamentary constituency visits commenced last night in Niutoua.
Over 50 local residents gathered at the Free Wesleyan Church’s ‘Akapusi Hall for the inaugural meeting of Tongatapu 10 MP Hon. Kapelieli Lanumata’s visit.
These annual visits offer MPs a chance to engage with their constituents, address pressing issues, and report back to Parliament. Following the Niutoua meeting, Hon. Lanumata and his team will continue their tour with stops in Afā tonight, Holonga tomorrow, and Navutoka on Wednesday. They will then visit Hoi on Thursday and Talasiu on Friday.
Next week, additional meetings will be held across the Tongatapu 10 electorate, culminating with a visit to ‘Eueiki island next Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Ha’apai 13 parliamentary team has traveled to Ha’apai to conduct similar meetings.
Tonight, Tongatapu 2 MP Hon. Dr. ‘Uhilamoelangi Fasi held his first 2024 constituency meeting at the Catholic Church Hall in Tofoa.
The public is encouraged to attend these meetings to discuss important local issues and seek assistance. Parliament has been adjourned since August for Tonga to host the 53rd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM) in Nuku’alofa. According to the House-Sitting Calendar for 2024, constituency visits are scheduled for this month, with the Legislative Assembly set to reconvene next month.
