THE public has been given a grace period until September 30 to comply with the Road and Traffic Acts 2020.
These Acts of Parliament were gazette for public use last Friday.
Police are warning those who fail to abide by the laws before it is enforced on October 1.
The Hon. Prime Minister Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa made the announcement in Parliament earlier this week.
He said the public are now given this grace period to familiarise with the law before its enforcement next month.
The PM also urged the public to obey the laws for road safety.
Wearing of seatbelts by drivers and front seat passengers is a must.
Mobile use and seating of children on driver’s lap while driving as well as children seen hanging their head out the windows are prohibited.
