After months of learning from home, forms 2, 5, 6 and 7 students and tertiary students will now return to the classrooms. The curfew will be from 11pm to 5am instead of 10pm to 5am, bars and Kava Clubs will now open to the public but operators will have to apply for a permit from the Ministry of Health.

This easing of restriction was announced by the Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku in a press conference with the local media on Friday 6th of April,2022 and came into effect on May7th, 2022.

According to the Prime Minister, the decision to ease some of the restrictions was based on the advice given to Cabinet by the Minister of Health.

All government services will return to full service starting today Monday, May 9 and public transport will also operate, including bus services.

Kindergarten levels, Primary school students and forms 1,3 and 4 will continue to use radio and television from home in the next two weeks. The Minister also stressed the Ministry of Education will continue to monitor the situation within the next two weeks before they could make further announcements.
