The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, Lord Fakafanua and Tonga’s Ambassador to the United Nations Va’inga Tone joined thousands of participants from around the world for Earth Day at EarthX2023 from the 21-23 in Dallas, Texas, United States.

Lord Fakafanua who is the chair of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga’s Standing Committee on Environment and Climate Change was among business professionals, students, NGOs, farmers, corporations, government agencies, policy-makers, scientists, teachers, and environmentalists who took part in the Earth Day Expo 2023.

Amongst other panels, Lord Fakafanua and Ambassador Tone were interviewed in the SDG Lounge of Earthx2023 on The Resilience of the Frontlines of Large Ocean States. This discussion panel was moderated by Neil Cohn, founder of CodeGreen.org.

The event included three days of exhibits, learning, interactive experiences, and outdoor activities in a festival format that invites people from all walks of life to participate. The program is designed to offer exposure and access to important environmental ideas, achievable solutions, and ways that participants can all take action.

This is an annual environmental exposition which is held around Earth Day, April 22nd. The Earth Day Expo started in 2011 and the event has grown to welcome over 177,000 visitors.
