Applications Now Open for She Leads Fale Alea 2025
Nuku‘alofa, Tonga - March 3, 2025 -
In celebration of Women’s Month, Take The Lead (TTL) is pleased to announce that applications for She Leads Fale Alea 2025 are now open. This leadership program, delivered in partnership with the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, provides young women aged 16-29 with a unique opportunity to engage in a practice parliament, develop critical leadership skills, and contribute to national dialogue on pressing issues.This year’s program will take place in April, giving aspiring female leaders the entire month of March to apply and take the next step in their leadership journeys.
Theme: Sustainability & Resilience
The theme for She Leads Fale Alea 2025, "Sustainability & Resilience," highlights the essential role young women play in shaping Tonga’s future. Sustainability extends beyond environmental responsibility to include social, cultural, and economic stability, ensuring that future generations can thrive. Resilience speaks to the ability of individuals and communities to adapt, persevere, and lead through challenges while maintaining their core values.
The program will integrate cultural leadership principles rooted in Tongan values, reinforcing leadership development through traditions that encourage participants to uphold and strengthen Tongan identity while addressing modern governance challenges.
The parliamentary debates will focus on legislative and policy discussions that incorporate sustainability and resilience across key sectors, ensuring that young women are equipped to navigate leadership roles while balancing tradition and progress. Through these discussions, participants will gain first-hand experience in parliamentary processes, public speaking, policy analysis, and leadership development, empowering them to advocate for long-term solutions within their communities.
To apply for She Leads Fale Alea 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be between the ages of 16-29 years
- Must be of Tongan nationality and currently residing in Tonga
- Must be fluent in both written and oral Tongan
- Must be available to attend the program in person from April 22-29, 2025

Orientation: April 22-25, 2025
Sitting: April 28-29, 2025
