Today, Members of Parliament (MPs) were briefed on the ongoing stakeholder consultation for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regarding the proposed new Fale Alea building.
The presentation, delivered by the Tonkin and Taylor Group from New Zealand, was led by Sarah Heritage and Sara McCarter. This marks the second EIA survey conducted by Tonkin and Taylor for the new Tonga Parliament building.
The consultation gathered feedback on several key issues, including traffic concerns, the potential impact on the lagoon, and the building's long-term operations and maintenance. MPs also shared their views on the design, functionality, and structure of the proposed building.
While the timeline for the completion of the new Tonga Parliament remains to be finalized, discussions continue to ensure the project’s success.
