The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga is the Guest of Honor at World Summit 2025, in Seoul, Republic of Korea from April 10 to April 14, 2025. Lord Fakafanua also delivered the Keynote Address.
This high-level global gathering’s theme: “Contemporary Challenges to World Order: Establishing a New Era of Peace and Prosperity.” The Summit aims to address urgent global issues including conflict, environmental degradation, and human security threats by bringing together eminent voices from government, religion, civil society, business, and academia.
A central highlight of the Summit was the inauguration of the Cheon Won Gung Peace Palace, an international and interreligious sanctuary envisioned by Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, Co-Founder of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF). The Peace Palace is intended as a spiritual and diplomatic center to support the cause of lasting world peace. Dr. Moon cited former UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld, stating: “Unless there is a spiritual renaissance, the world will know no peace.”
In recognition of the strategic importance of the Asia-Pacific region in shaping the future of global peace and prosperity, the Summit also explore the formation of an Asia-Pacific Union Forum, a proposed initiative to strengthen regional cooperation and peacebuilding.
The Summit also featured the 6th Sunhak Peace Prize Award Ceremony, honoring global leaders who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of human dignity and global well-being.
