“Prime Minister, Lord Fakafanua announces Ministers of Cabinet

The Prime Minister, Lord Fakafanua has announced the new Cabinet Ministers of the Government of Tonga, this morning 5th January 2026.

The appointments of Cabinet Ministers were made by His Majesty King Tupou VI, pursuant to Clause 51(2) of the Constitution, effective from 31 December, 2025.

The new members of His Majesty’s Cabinet and portfolios, are as follows:

1. Lord Fakafanua

• PrimeMinister
• Minister for Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Communications and Climate Change (MEIDECC)
• Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services, and Prisons

2. Hon. Dr. Viliami Uasike Latu

• DeputyPrime Minister
• Minister for Justice
• Minister for Trade and Economic Development

3. HRH CrownPrince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukalala

• Minister for His Majesty’s Diplomatic Services
• Minister for His Majesty’s Armed Forces

4. Hon Siaosi ‘Ofakivahafolau Sovaleni

• Minister for Public Enterprises
• Minister for Health

5. Hon Lataifaingata’a Tangimana

• Minister for Finance & National Planning

6. Hon Semisi Kioa Lafu Sika
