The Vava'u No. 2 Nobles representative, Lord Tu'ilakepa, has officially lodged a complaint against a member of the public for contempt of Parliament.
In his complaint, Lord Tu'ilakepa asserts that threats were made against members of Parliament, causing concerns about their safety. He further explains that the individual made threatening and disrespectful remarks about Parliament and several
Members of Parliament during a live Facebook broadcast. Lord Tu'ilakepa argued that these actions breached Clause 70 of the Tongan Constitution.
Speaker, Lord Fakafanua, has referred the complaint to the Standing Committee on Privileges and instructed the Committee to report back with their findings as soon as possible.
