The recently announced Cabinet Ministers formally took their oaths in Parliament today, reaffirming their commitment to faithfully carry out their duties in service to His Majesty King Tupou VI and the people of Tonga.

The Ministers were Hon. Tevita Puloka, Minister for Infrastructure; Hon. Dr. Siale 'Akau'ola, Minister for Health; and Hon. Vika Sivoki Lavemaau, Minister for Finance.

As part of the oath, each Minister pledged loyalty to the King and righteously conform to and uphold the Constitution of Tonga, while faithfully performing their duties as Members of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga.

The Acting Speaker of Parliament, Lord Tu'iha'angana, warmly welcomed the Ministers to the House and congratulated them on their new roles.

Speaking in Parliament today, the Hon. Minister for Infrastructure pledged to do his best in carrying out his duties.

The Minister for Health Hon. Dr. Siale 'Akau'ola expressed his hope that they would be guided by divine light and have love and honesty in helping people in need.

Meanwhile, the Hon. Minister for Finance, Hon. Vika Sivoki Lavemaau, spoke of the importance of good governance and making informed decisions, especially in managing public funds for the benefit of the nation.

Lavemaau expressed her hope for a closer cooperation among Cabinet Members, the Legislative Assembly of Tonga, public servants, development partners and the people of Tonga to build a stronger economy capable of facing future challenges
