THE Member of Parliament for Tongatapu 7, Hon. Dr. Piveni Piukala, today officially launched his 2025 constituency visit program with a tour of the Alonga Centre for elderly people with disabilities in Pea.
Hon. Piukala and his constituency team were warmly received by the Centre’s management. Discussions during the visit focused on the need for improved infrastructure and enhanced support services for the facility and its residents.
Following the Alonga Centre tour, the MP visited Lavengamalie College, where he met with the principal and senior staff to address challenges facing the school, particularly around resource needs and education quality.
Among the key issues raised during today’s visits were infrastructure development at the Alonga Centre, support for church schools in the constituency, and broader community infrastructure initiatives.
Hon. Piukala’s visit will continue tomorrow with a tour of Tonga Forest Products Ltd. in Tokomololo, where he is scheduled to meet with General Manager Mr. Peni Vea. He will also inspect community projects and visit both Pea and Tokomololo Government Middle Schools.
On Friday, he will wrap up the week with visits to Tonga College ‘Atele and ‘Atele Si’i Government Middle School.
Other MPs continue constituency visits
Meanwhile, Tongatapu 1 MP Hon. Tevita Puloka has completed three constituency visits so far, including a meeting with residents of Tongata’eapa last night. He is scheduled to meet with the people of Sopu this evening. All are welcome to attend.
In Ha’apai, Hon. Veivosa Taka (MP for Ha’apai 13) held a public meeting earlier today with residents of Fonoifua.
Tongatapu 9 MP Hon. Sevenitini Toumoua will also continue his parliamentary visit this evening with a community meeting at SUTT Hall in Lavengatonga at 7:00 pm.
At the same time, Tongatapu 4 MP Hon. Mateni Tapueluelu is expected to meet with residents of Touliki in a community forum also scheduled for 7:00 pm.
