The Office of the Noble Representatives in Parliament continues to make a significant impact in the community through its constituency fund from the Office of the Legislative Assembly.

Last week, staff from the Noble Representative Office distributed educational materials, including reading books and textbooks, to government and church schools in Tongatapu.

Donations from the New Zealand-based charity Melino mo e 'Ofa included reading books, textbooks, and toys, which were donated to Free Wesleyan Church Primary School, Vaotu'u Primary School, Government Middle Schools of Houma and Havelu, Hilliard Memorial School, Maamaloa Side School and Kindy, Acts Community School, and Tonga Side School.

Secretary of the Noble Representative Office said these donations were supplies from four containers sent from New Zealand last year. Agent, Katie Hargraves assisted in obtaining various supplies from New Zealand and shipping them to Tonga for free distribution to the public.

The donated items included chairs and tables, books, toys, hospital beds and medical supplies, walking crutches, wheelchairs, work cabinets, clothing, drinking bottles, and lunch boxes.

Three 20-foot containers and one 40-foot container were dispatched from Auckland to Tonga last year. The goods and supplies sent from overseas were based on applications from the community submitted to the Noble Representative’s Office.

Recipients included schools from kindergarten to high school, daycare centers, Along Centre, Mango Rehabilitation Centre, and others. Educational materials will also be provided to Tailulu, 'Apifo'ou, and Lavengamalie to support students' learning.

The Noble Representative Office covered the freight cost of TOP$15,000.00 for one 20-foot container. Through closer collaboration with the Customs Department, the duty was waived since the items were for charity.

The mission of the Noble Representatives Office is to make a difference in people's lives and to help move Tonga forward economically and financially
