As part of his 2024 parliamentary constituency visit, Niua 17 Peopleās Representative, Hon. VÄtau Hui, has been actively engaging with government representatives, officials, and local communities on the island.
Yesterday, Hon. Hui held a series of meetings with officials from key government departments, including MEIDECC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lands and Survey, Customs, and Fisheries. He also met with staff from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Police Department to discuss pressing issues affecting his electorate.
Today, the MP visited the Ministry of Health and Likamonu Hospital, where he engaged with health officials to better understand the needs and challenges faced by the local healthcare system.
In addition to his meetings with government officials, Hon. Hui joined the parliamentary education team in delivering outreach programs at Niuatoputapu High School, Falehau Government Primary School, Hihifo Government Primary School, and local preschools. These programs aim to connect with students, educators, and families, addressing educational needs and community concerns.
This visit marks the continuation of Hon. Huiās constituency engagement at Niuatoputapu, which began last week. The annual parliamentary visit is a critical opportunity for MPs to meet with their electorates, listen to their concerns, and address issues impacting their daily lives.
A full report of the constituency visit will be prepared and submitted for discussion in Parliament, ensuring that the voices of Niua 17 constituents are heard at the national level.
Last year, Hon. Hui was unable to conduct his parliamentary visit due to official duties and other commitments. However, this yearās program has been a comprehensive effort to reconnect with the community and address their needs.
Niua 17 MP and his team will conclude their visit next week before returning to Nukuāalofa.
