Speaker Lord Fakafanua Joins Global Leaders at Monaco's Blue Economy Forum

The Government of Monaco, in collaboration with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Oceanographic Institute, hosted the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) on June 7–8, 2025, at the Grimaldi Forum. This event, a special feature of the 2025 UN Ocean Conference, aimed to advance sustainable ocean practices and address financing challenges.

Lord Fakafanua, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, was among the distinguished guests representing the Tongan Parliament. The forum convened government officials, multilateral organizations, private sector leaders, and civil society representatives to discuss ocean health, sustainable financing, maritime transport decarbonization, and governance frameworks.

Key sessions included investing in ocean resilience, financing sustainable sectors, transforming blue ports, and ensuring sustainable ocean governance. The event concluded with speeches by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and various Heads of State.

BEFF provided a valuable platform for collaboration and innovation in ocean conservation and sustainable economic development.
