Receipt of the First Written Nomination of a Candidate
for Prime Minister Designate

The Office of the Interim Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga wishes to advise that the first written nomination for Prime Minister Designate was received today, Thursday 4th of December 2025.

In accordance with practices of the Legislative Assembly, the details of the nomination will only be revealed by the Interim Speaker, Lord Tangi ‘o Vaonukonuka in the presence of Elected Representatives at the meeting to be convened for the election of the Prime Minister Designate.

Further written nominations for Prime Minister Designate may continue to be lodged until 4.30pm on Friday 12 December 2025.
