Nuku‘alofa, Tonga – 12 November 2021 Another 13 Acts of Parliament received Royal Assent from His Majesty, King Tupou VI, on 28 October 2021.
A total of 22 Acts were passed by the Legislative Assembly during its sittings in the current year. 16 of these Acts have now received Royal Assent, 2 awaits submission to seek Royal Assent, whilst Royal Assent has been deferred in respect of 4 Acts.
Among the Acts recently Assented are five Acts that were introduced in the House as Private Members’ Bills, including four that were sponsored by the Ha’apai Nobles’ Representative No. 2, Lord Speaker Fakafanua, and one which was sponsored by Ha’apai People’s Representative Hon. Veivosa Taka.
